Take Profit Trader PRO+ Explained (PRO vs. PRO+, Upgrade, $5,000 Freeze, Development Accounts)
- You move from PRO to PRO+ only by invitation: Take Profit Trader decides at its sole discretion, based on an overall review with no single threshold. PRO is a sim funded account with an 80% split, and PRO+ is a live account with a 90% split (checked 2026-11-04).
- The firm says it weighs consistency, risk management, execution and discipline together. Specific conditions, such as how many payouts you need, are not published and are under review. PRO+ has no buffer, uses an EOD drawdown, and sends orders to the exchange through Tradovate.
- When you move up, your PRO account is put on hold and $5,000 of your PRO profit is frozen. PRO+ starts from a $0 balance with an EOD drawdown equal to the amount you had when you started PRO (-$2,000 on 50K).
How do you move from a PRO account to PRO+ at Take Profit Trader? (80% sim vs. 90% live)
The differences between Take Profit Trader PRO and PRO+ come down to 3 things: what the account is, the profit split, and how you get in. All are stated in the official help center, checked on 2026-11-04.
- PRO is a SIM account you activate after passing the Test, with an 80% split. PRO+ is a LIVE (real capital) account with a 90% split
- PRO+ is invitation only, and the upgrade is at the firm's discretion. Fixed conditions such as a number of payouts are not published
- When you move up, $5,000 of your PRO profit is frozen, and PRO+ starts from a $0 balance
You cannot buy PRO+. It is an account you are invited to after continuing to trade on PRO. This article covers a comparison table, the upgrade process, what happens to your money when you move up, Development accounts and things to watch. Payout steps and methods are covered in the payout rules article.

Are Take Profit Trader PRO payouts real money if PRO is a sim account?
Take Profit Trader PRO is a sim account. The official help center says PRO orders are not sent to an exchange and are processed inside the data provider's (Rithmic or Tradovate) simulation. The payouts you receive from PRO, however, are real money.
A sim account with real payouts is a setup shared by the 6 futures prop firms, so the general explanation is planned for a shared article. The point to watch at Take Profit Trader is that trading that relies on sim fills is subject to review. The official Sustainable Trading Policy lists relying on sim fill inefficiencies as a pattern subject to review.
On PRO, you can withdraw profit above the buffer balance at an 80% split. On 50K, the buffer balance is $52,000. Worked examples and payout methods are in the payout rules article.

How does Take Profit Trader decide who gets PRO+? (Invitation only, unpublished criteria)
Take Profit Trader PRO+ is invitation only, and you receive an email invitation when you are judged eligible. Take Profit Trader makes the decision, and the official help center describes it as the firm's sole discretion.
An overall review with no single threshold
The official help article on upgrades says there is no single threshold and that consistency, risk management, execution patterns and discipline are reviewed together. It is not a system where hitting any 1 number moves you up.
Specific conditions such as the number of payouts are under review
Specific conditions, such as how many payouts or how much profit you need for PRO+, are not written in the official information checked 2026-11-04, so they are under review. Do not assume you move up automatically after a fixed count.
Setup takes a few days, and the data switch can block trading for up to 12 hours
After you accept the invitation, PRO+ setup usually takes a few days. On PRO+ you are classified as a professional trader and switched to professional market data. During this switch there can be up to 12 hours when you cannot trade.
On the Test and PRO, you sign a Non-Professional data subscriber agreement. Who pays for professional data on PRO+ is under review in the sources for this article. Check the invitation and the setup screens.

What happens to your money when you move up to Take Profit Trader PRO+? (The $5,000 freeze)
When you move up to PRO+ at Take Profit Trader, your PRO account is put on hold and $5,000 of your PRO profit is frozen. Anything above $5,000 can be withdrawn right away. The frozen $5,000 is used in the calculation if you lose PRO+.
PRO on hold, $5,000 of profit frozen
Per the official help center, the freeze applies to PRO profit, and anything above $5,000 is not frozen and can be withdrawn. For example, with $7,000 in PRO profit, $5,000 is frozen and the remaining $2,000 can be withdrawn right away.
Whether "PRO profit" here means profit from the starting balance or the withdrawable amount above the buffer, and what happens if PRO profit is below $5,000, are under review in the sources for this article. When you receive the invitation, confirm the amounts on your dashboard and with support.
PRO+ starts from a $0 balance
PRO+ starts with a $0 balance and an EOD drawdown equal to the amount you had when you started PRO. The drawdown follows realized profit at the end of the trading day and stops once it reaches $0.
| Original PRO size | PRO+ starting balance | PRO+ starting floor (EOD) | Where the floor stops |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25K | $0 | -$1,500 | $0 |
| 50K | $0 | -$2,000 | $0 |
| 75K | $0 | -$2,500 | $0 |
| 100K | $0 | -$3,000 | $0 |
| 150K | $0 | -$4,500 | $0 |
On a 50K PRO+ account, if realized profit at the end of the day grows to $1,500, the floor rises to -$500. Once it reaches $2,000, the floor stops at $0, and from then on dropping below $0 loses the account.
If you lose PRO+
If you lose PRO+, you can withdraw the profit remaining on PRO+ and your share of the frozen $5,000. If PRO+ ends with a negative balance, that amount is subtracted from the $5,000.
Here is an example. If you lose a 50K PRO+ account at a -$1,200 balance, $5,000 minus $1,200 leaves $3,800 as the base for the frozen amount. Which percentage (the PRO 80% or another) is applied to this $3,800 to get your share is under review in the sources for this article.

What is a Take Profit Trader PRO+ Development account? (And the 30-day cooldown)
A Take Profit Trader PRO+ Development account is a PRO+ account you are placed in when your trading shows high-risk tendencies. It has smaller size and drawdown than a standard PRO+ account, plus a soft DLL (a limit that stops trading for the day).
| Size | Max size (mini / micro) | DLL (soft) | EOD drawdown |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25K | 1 / 10 | $500 | $750 |
| 50K | 2 / 20 | $1,000 | $1,250 |
| 75K | 3 / 30 | $1,250 | $1,500 |
| 100K | 4 / 40 | $1,500 | $1,750 |
| 150K | 5 / 50 | $2,000 | $2,250 |
The path back to standard PRO+
The official help center says there is a path back to standard PRO+ after about 60 days of disciplined trading. You can also ask for a manual review at development@takeprofittrader.com. The specific criteria you must meet during those 60 days are under review in the sources for this article.
The 30-day cooldown
On PRO+ Development, if your net loss of Take Profit Trader capital over the last 30 days reaches $10,000, new purchases are blocked for 30 days. For those 30 days you also cannot buy a new Test and start over on another account.

What should you watch on Take Profit Trader PRO+? (No reset, self-match prevention, commissions)
Take Profit Trader PRO+ has 3 points to watch that PRO does not. All are stated in the official help center.
PRO+ cannot be reset directly
If you lose PRO+, you cannot reset it as PRO+. To move up to PRO+ again, you need to pass the Test again, or reset PRO, and then be upgraded again. PRO resets are limited to 3 per account, with the fees below.
| Size | PRO reset fee |
|---|---|
| 25K | $449 |
| 50K | $649 |
| 75K | $799 |
| 100K | $999 |
| 150K | $1,499 |
Orders can be rejected by self-match prevention (SMP)
All Take Profit Trader PRO+ accounts run under a shared Self-Match Prevention (SMP) ID. Because of this, when your order meets another trader's PRO+ order, CME may reject one of them. If an order does not go through, this may be the reason.
Commissions and rules
PRO+ commissions are broker rates, unlike the fixed amounts on PRO. The 1-minute restriction around news releases also applies to PRO+, and the shared trading policies, such as the ban on automated trading, apply as is.
