My Funded Futures vs Topstep: 50K Pricing, Activation Fees and Payouts Compared
My Funded Futures vs Topstep differs mainly in how you pay: My Funded Futures (MFFU) sells evaluations as a one-time payment with a $0 activation fee, while Topstep bills monthly and its Standard Path adds a $149 activation fee after you pass. Both accounts share the same profit target and max loss. We compared the two firms on 50K accounts, and every figure comes from their official sites and help centers as checked on 2026-11-04.
- They charge differently. New My Funded Futures purchases are a one-time payment, with a $0 activation fee after passing. Topstep's Trading Combine is billed every 30 days, and the Standard Path charges a $149 activation fee after you pass.
- The 50K profit target of $3,000 and max loss of $2,000 are the same. The differences are the evaluation consistency rule, minimum trading days, how the daily loss limit works and the conditions for a payout after passing.
- The profit split is 80% for My Funded Futures Builder and 90% for Topstep's XFA. Outside the US, My Funded Futures pays through Riseworks, while Topstep mainly uses international wire (Wire/SWIFT). Both firms publish restricted-country lists; check whether your country is listed before you sign up, and keep in mind that not being listed is not a guarantee of eligibility.
Quick answer: which firm fits which trader?
You want to pay once and avoid monthly charges
My Funded Futures evaluations are a one-time payment with no renewal charges, and Builder 50K lists at $153. However, one-time accounts may be closed after 7 calendar days in a row without trading.
You want the smallest first payment
Topstep's Standard Path 50K starts at $49 per month (before tax). Passing adds a $149 activation fee, so passing in 1 month totals $198.
You do not want to pay an activation fee after passing
Both firms offer a no-activation-fee option
My Funded Futures charges a $0 activation fee on every plan and size. At Topstep, the No Activation Fee Path costs $95 per month with no fee when you pass, and you cannot switch paths after purchase.
You want to pass on a single big winning day
My Funded Futures Builder has no consistency rule in evaluation and a 1-day minimum. Topstep's evaluation has a 55% consistency rule, so a large best day raises the profit target, and it takes at least 2 days.
You want to request a payout soon after passing
Choose by payout frequency and days required
My Funded Futures Rapid and Rapid EOD allow daily requests, and Builder allows requests per cycle starting 48 hours after your first trade. At Topstep, XFA Consistency allows a request after 3 trading days, while Standard needs 5 winning days of $150 or more.
This is not a ranking. Pick the firm that matches your own conditions, such as how you want to pay, how you trade and how fast you want to reach a payout.
How do the 50K accounts compare? MFFU Builder vs Topstep Standard Path
My Funded Futures has 5 plans: Builder, Rapid, Rapid EOD, Pro and Studio. For the main comparison we use Builder 50K, which has no evaluation consistency rule and a 50K price you can confirm on the public pages. On the Topstep side we use the 50K Standard Path, which charges an activation fee after passing. Both have a $3,000 profit target and a $2,000 max loss, so the terms line up.

My Funded Futures' other 50K plans
Every My Funded Futures 50K plan is built on a $3,000 profit target and a $2,000 max loss. What differs is the evaluation consistency rule, minimum trading days, how drawdown moves after passing and the profit split. The list prices and terms confirmed on the public pages are below.
| My Funded Futures 50K | Evaluation list price (one-time) | Activation fee | Drawdown type (evaluation / Sim Funded) | Evaluation consistency and minimum days | Profit split |

Which costs less to get funded? One-time MFFU vs monthly Topstep
My Funded Futures made all new purchases from 2026-08-25 a one-time payment. There are no renewal charges and no activation fee after passing. Monthly subscriptions bought before then continue under the old terms. The official sources differ on the cutoff: the help article says new purchases from 2026-08-25 are one-time, while the terms define purchases before 2026-08-20 as a Legacy Subscription (the old monthly plan).
Topstep's Trading Combine renews automatically every 30 days and continues until you pass or cancel. When you pass, that Combine subscription is canceled automatically, but the current month's payment is not refunded or prorated. You cannot pause it, and once canceled it cannot be resumed.
Total cost to get funded
The table below shows the total if you pass in month 1, 2 or 3. Because My Funded Futures is a one-time payment, the cost does not grow with time as long as you do not fail or reset. The reset fee could not be confirmed on the official pages and is under review, so it is not in the table. Topstep assumes you pay the monthly fee each month and buy no separate resets.
Prices are official list prices as of 2026-11-04. Sale and discount prices are not included. Taxes and payment fees are not included either (Topstep shows prices before tax, and local VAT, GST or sales tax may be added).
| 50K (evaluation fee + activation fee) | Pass in 1 month | Pass in 2 months | Pass in 3 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| My Funded Futures Builder | $153 | $153 | $153 |
| My Funded Futures Builder (MLL $1,500 version) | $125 | $125 | $125 |
| My Funded Futures Rapid | $209 | $209 | $209 |
| My Funded Futures Pro | $265 | $265 | $265 |
| Topstep Standard Path | $198 | $247 | $296 |
| Topstep No Activation Fee Path | $95 | $190 | $285 |
If you pass in 1 month, My Funded Futures Builder 50K costs $153, Topstep's Standard Path costs $198 (the $49 monthly fee plus the $149 activation fee), and the No Activation Fee Path costs $95. If it takes 3 months, Topstep's Standard Path comes to $296 and the No Activation Fee Path to $285.
Failing works differently too. At Topstep, hitting the max loss only costs you eligibility; the subscription continues, and you get one Reset Credit at the next renewal. To restart mid-month, you can buy a separate reset for $49 on the 50K Standard. My Funded Futures resets can be used regardless of the purchase date, but the fee is under review.
Refunds and payment methods
- My Funded Futures refunds: the official sources differ. The terms page says that if you have made no trades (including no access to market data) and request within 14 days of purchase, you get back the amount paid minus a non-refundable $75. The help article says accounts that are active with no trades get a full refund within 14 days, and crypto payments are not refundable.
- Topstep refunds: none as a rule. The exception is a satisfaction guarantee that refunds up to one monthly fee if you have not passed within 14 calendar days of your first Combine purchase. Resets, activation fees and market depth data fees are not refunded.
- My Funded Futures payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, Google Pay and Apple Pay (some US states only), and crypto. Only cards in your own name are accepted, and the billing address must match your registered address. Prepaid cards are not accepted.
- Topstep payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Google Wallet and Apple Pay. PayPal is not accepted, and cards must be in your own name.

How do the rules differ? Drawdown, daily loss limit, consistency and trading hours
How the drawdown line moves
My Funded Futures Builder uses end-of-day trailing (EOD Trailing) for its maximum loss limit (MLL). On a 50K with a $50,000 starting balance, the line starts at $48,000 and rises when the end-of-day balance sets a new high. The help center explains that reaching the MLL is the only numeric rule that closes the account. In Sim Funded after passing, the line locks at the starting balance plus $100 once profit reaches the drawdown amount plus $100.
Topstep's Maximum Loss Limit (MLL) also rises with end-of-day balances and never falls. It is monitored in real time, including intraday open profit and loss, and in the Combine the line locks once it reaches the $50,000 starting balance. The help center states there are no adjustments or exceptions to the MLL.
Within My Funded Futures, only Rapid's Sim Funded account uses intraday trailing, where the line follows the high of the account value including open profit. If you often see big intraday gains that pull back, pay attention to the drawdown type of each plan.
Daily loss limit and consistency rule
My Funded Futures Builder 50K has a $1,000 daily loss limit; hitting it only stops trading for the day and does not fail the account. Topstep's daily loss limit is optional; if added at purchase, the 50K limit is $1,000. It cannot be changed later and carries over to the XFA after passing. Hitting it is not a rule violation, and you can resume at the next session at 5:00 PM CT.
My Funded Futures Builder has no consistency rule in evaluation. A 50% consistency rule applies when you request payouts from Sim Funded after passing. In other plans' evaluations, Rapid and Pro use 50% and Rapid EOD uses 30%; the help center explains that exceeding it does not fail you, and you can still pass by adding trading days. Topstep's evaluation has a 55% consistency rule: if your best day exceeds 55% of total profit, the profit target rises to your best day divided by 0.55. On a 50K, keeping your best day under $1,650 keeps the target at $3,000.
| Item (50K) | My Funded Futures Builder | Topstep |
|---|---|---|
| Max position size (evaluation) | mini 4 contracts, micro 40 contracts | mini 5 contracts, micro 50 contracts |
| Max position size (after passing) | Sim Funded is the same as evaluation | XFA size is set by the scaling plan based on balance (table for general products under review) |
| Minimum trading days | 1 day | At least 2 days |
| After passing | Move to Sim Funded right away from the dashboard. A review of up to 24 hours may apply | Activate from the dashboard, ready in minutes |
| Accounts at the same time | 10 evaluations, 1 Builder 50K Sim Funded account | No limit on Combines, up to 5 XFAs |
| Inactivity | One-time accounts may close after 7 calendar days without trading | XFA may be closed after more than 30 days without trading |
Trading hours and prohibited activity
Neither firm allows holding overnight. My Funded Futures closes positions automatically at 4:10 PM EST (the official page says EST, and how this applies during US daylight saving time is under review). On holiday early-close days there is no automatic close, and you fail if you do not close positions yourself. Topstep requires all positions to be closed by 3:10 PM CT on weekdays, and risk management starts closing positions after 3:08 PM CT.
- Economic news: My Funded Futures allows trading through Tier 1 releases in all evaluations and in Builder Sim Funded. In Rapid, Pro and Rapid EOD Sim Funded accounts, you may not hold positions or orders within 2 minutes before and after a release. Topstep does not allow opening new equity index and metals mini positions within 5 minutes before and after CPI, FOMC, NFP and PPI (up to 3 micro contracts on a 50K).
- Automated trading: My Funded Futures allows automated trading set up by you, but strategies that exploit favorable simulated fills and HFT are prohibited. Topstep allows it with conditions, and orders from a VPS, VPN or remote server are prohibited.
- Hedging: My Funded Futures prohibits opposite positions in the same underlying (for example NQ and MNQ). Topstep prohibits opposite positions in the same or correlated products across your own accounts (for example MNQ and NQ, MES and ES).
- Price limits: both firms prohibit trading or holding positions within 2% of a price limit (at My Funded Futures this applies to Sim Funded and Live).

How do payouts compare? Conditions, caps, frequency and methods outside the US
At both firms, payouts come from the sim funded account after passing: Sim Funded at My Funded Futures and the Express Funded Account (XFA) at Topstep. Both start at a $0 balance, so building the balance comes first until the line rises.
| Item (50K) | My Funded Futures Builder Sim Funded | Topstep XFA Standard | Topstep XFA Consistency |
|---|---|---|---|
| When you can request | 48 hours after your first trade. 2 qualifying days per cycle | 5 winning days of $150 or more (need not be consecutive) | 3 trading days (at least 1 trade each day) |
| Other conditions | Profit $500 above the $2,100 buffer, 50% consistency | Positive net profit since the last payout (waived for the first) | Consistency of 40% or less |
| Cap per payout | $2,000 per cycle | 50% of balance, up to $2,000 | 50% of balance, up to $3,000 |
| Minimum amount | $500 | $125 | $125 |
| Profit split | 80% | 90% | 90% |
| Number of payouts and next stage | Up to 5 payouts in Sim. Moves to Live after the 5th is approved | No cap on the number stated. Live is decided by the risk team | No cap on the number stated. Live is decided by the risk team |
My Funded Futures Builder 50K requires a $2,100 buffer (MLL plus $100; $1,600 for the MLL $1,500 version) plus $500 in net profit, so you need $2,600 in profit before the first payout. Topstep's XFA line trails from -$2,000 and locks at $0 after the first payout. Withdrawing lowers your balance and brings you closer to the loss floor, so Topstep recommends building the balance until the line reaches $0 before requesting.
Payout frequency on other My Funded Futures plans
Payout frequency varies a lot by My Funded Futures plan. Rapid and Rapid EOD have a 90% profit split and allow daily requests, and Rapid EOD has no cap. Pro allows a request every 14 calendar days from your first trade, with a $1,000 minimum. Unlike Builder's 5 payouts, the Rapid plans move to Live when, for example, net profit in a single trading day reaches $10,000.
Review times and receiving payouts outside the US
| Item | My Funded Futures | Topstep |
|---|---|---|
| Review | Most are approved instantly. Manual review takes 6 to 12 business hours on weekdays | 1 to 3 business days for internal approval |
| Methods outside the US | Bank transfer or crypto from Riseworks (Rise) | Wire/SWIFT (5 to 10 business days). Wise only for China, Canada and the UK |
| Receiving fee | Under review (not stated officially) | $30 (Wire/SWIFT) |
| What you need first | Complete identity verification (KYC) and create a Riseworks account. Sign an agreement at the first payout | A receiving account in your own name; non-US traders submit a W-8BEN |
| Methods for US residents only | Plaid / ACH | Prop-to-Brokerage, Aeropay, ACH |
If you receive $500 from Topstep by international wire, you get $420 after the 10% split ($50) and the $30 fee. A $500 request on My Funded Futures Builder is $400 after the split, but Rise and bank fees are not stated officially, so the amount that reaches you cannot be confirmed.

What should you check before signing up? Eligibility, ID checks and support
Neither firm officially states that it can be used from a particular country. This section lists only what the two firms' official terms and help pages say. Points the official pages do not cover are marked "Not stated officially. Check the official site before you sign up."
Restricted-country lists and how eligibility is decided
- My Funded Futures: decides by citizenship or residency and lists 90 restricted countries and regions (as of 2026-11-04). While you are traveling in a restricted country you can trade, but you cannot make new purchases or resets.
- Topstep: decides by both citizenship and permanent residency, and lists 34 countries and regions where you cannot trade and 25 where you can use the XFA but cannot move to a live account (as of 2026-11-04). The official homepage says "140+ Countries", meaning more than 140.
- Not being on a list is not a guarantee that you can use the service. Topstep says its lists can change at any time. Check whether your country is listed on both firms' official pages before you sign up.

FAQ
What is the biggest difference between My Funded Futures and Topstep?
How you pay and the activation fee. New My Funded Futures purchases are a one-time payment (the help center says from 2026-08-25, while the terms define purchases before 2026-08-20 as the old monthly plan, so the official cutoff date differs), and the activation fee after passing is $0 on every plan. Topstep's Trading Combine is billed every 30 days, and the Standard Path charges a $149 activation fee after you pass. Both firms use a $3,000 profit target and a $2,000 max loss on 50K (checked 2026-11-04).
